About The Instructor

Margaret Coker, the owner and instructor of Parkway Dental Assisting courses, takes great pride in teaching her NC Dental Board-approved Radiology Course.

Margaret’s journey in dental assisting began in 1984 when she started as an office-trained dental assistant. She began her dental career in oral surgery, endodontics, and seven years in general Dentistry.

Driven by her passion for dental assisting, Margaret decided to challenge the DANB and become a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA). She completed the Dental Hygiene program at Cape Fear Community College in 2001 and earned her Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) certification.

After eight years of clinical dental hygiene, Margaret left private practice to join Central Carolina Community College (CCCC) as a Lead Dental Assisting Instructor. During her five-year tenure at CCCC, she taught semester-long X-ray courses, clinical procedures, dental materials, infection control, and sterilization.

Margaret’s dedication and expertise played a pivotal role in obtaining the program’s ADA Accreditation. Additionally, she obtained her Radiology Teaching Certification from the University of North Carolina.

Following her time at CCCC, Margaret wrote several NC Board-approved radiology courses, which are now available to Dental Assistants and Dental Auxiliaries.

When she’s not teaching, Margaret can be found at Parkway Dental, where she has held the position of Clinical Manager since 2010.
